The Centre for Creative Technology (CCT) is a new research, innovation, and skills development hub based in the School of Design at Bath Spa University.

We champion Creative Technologists, supporting them in shaping research, driving innovation, and defining how emerging technologies are designed, built, and applied across culture, industry, and society.

The Centre Is Built on the Success of:

What we do

CCT works across research, industry, and education to advance Creative Technology as a discipline, fill gaps in advanced computing skills across the creative industries and to strengthen leadership capacity in the sector.

Our work focuses on four connected areas:

  • Practice-led research in creative technologies
  • Knowledge exchange and collaborative R&D with industry and the cultural sector
  • Skills development and workforce capacity building
  • Sector research and advocacy for Creative Technologists

We are technically rigorous, creatively driven, and socially engaged - ensuring technology is developed with purpose, responsibility, and impact.

Creative Technology as a Discipline

Creative Technology plays an increasingly central role in how culture is produced, experienced, and shared - across research, education, and industry.

We support the development of Creative Technology as a discipline grounded in technical expertise, creative practice, and critical enquiry. We work to ensure Creative Technologists are recognised as research leaders, collaborators, and educators, contributing meaningfully to the creative economy, to wider industry and society.
